Mountain gorillas, Chimpanzees & Golden Monkeys
In September 2024, I went on a two-week round trip through Uganda, often referred to as the ‘Pearl of Africa’. One of the highlights of this safari trip was the opportunity to observe the endangered mountain gorillas twice in their natural habitat. These gentle giants can be found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. I also visited Kibale National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lake Mburo National Park to see a variety of other animals.

The encounters with gorillas and chimpanzees were certainly the highlight of my trip to Uganda. However, I was just as enthusiastic about the many other animals that I was able to observe on numerous game drives and boat trips in large and small national parks. Highlights included the Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Travelling to the gentle giants in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mghahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda is an exciting and unique experience. You eagerly follow the tracks of the gorillas in the middle of the rainforest and suddenly the time has come: the mountain gorillas appear out of nowhere from the dense jungle in front of you ...
